WHO WE ARE

Backed By Decades of Licensed Experience

Aegis Construction Services has held its Florida General Contractor license (CGC1524141) since 2016, with Aegis Plumbing licensed (CFC1430823) since 2021 — both verifiable at myfloridalicense.com. Our team's construction experience goes back to 1998. For plan review and permitting, we work with independent, licensed engineers who've each practiced for over 20 years — kept separate from our construction team by design, so every set of plans gets an objective, unbiased review before it goes to the county.

FAQ

We've Got The Answers

What does it mean when a house is red tagged?

A red tag means the county found a violation serious enough to stop work or restrict use of the property until it's corrected. It stays on file until the issue is resolved and the property passes re-inspection.

What areas do you serve?

Tampa Bay to Cape Coral — Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee, and Polk counties.

How do I get a red tag removed?

We inspect the property, pull the required permits, correct the violation, and schedule re-inspection with the county. Once it passes, the tag comes off.

What is a stop work order?

A stop work order is issued when work is done without a permit or doesn't meet code. It halts construction until the violation is corrected and the county signs off.

How do I get a stop work order removed?

Same process — we fix what triggered it, file the permits, and get the county back out for re-inspection. Work resumes once it's approved.

What happens if I build without a permit?

The county can issue a stop work order, red tag the property, or require you to open up the work for inspection. It can also cause issues at closing if you sell later. We handle retroactive permitting so the work gets legalized without starting over.

What is an after-the-fact permit?

A permit filed after work is already done, used to bring unpermitted work up to code. The county typically requires an inspection before approving it.

Can I live in a red-tagged house?

Depends what triggered it. Some violations only restrict the affected area; others require the whole property vacated until corrected. We can tell you which applies once we see the notice.

Do I need a permit to convert my garage into a room?

Yes — it changes the structure, electrical, and use of the space, all of which require permits and inspection.
